Tiny Circus

Ages 2-3, adult co-participation required

  • Tuesdays 9:45 am - 10:30 am

A fun, guided way to discover circus arts, tiny circus is designed for our youngest students. Every student needs to have an adult present who stays engaged with their child throughout class.

Classes facilitate children’s exploration of movement in a safe and non-competitive environment. Our trained staff introduce children to basic circus skills while developing motor skills, strength, balance, and flexibility. We also explore creativity, and joy in movement, while developing social skills such as taking turns and following directions.


Little Circus 1

Ages 4-6, no experience needed

*Students must be able to separate from parents for the duration of this class. If you are interested in a joint participation class, consider our tiny circus!

Our Little Circus series of classes offers a fun, guided way to discover circus arts. Classes facilitate children’s exploration of movement in a safe and non-competitive environment.

Our trained staff introduce children to basic circus skills while developing motor skills, strength, balance, and flexibility.

We also explore musicality, creativity, and joy in movement, while developing social skills such as taking turns and following directions.

Little Circus 2

Ages 4-6, this class is for students who are ready to advance from Little Circus 1 with instructor approval or by assessment.

In this continuation of our Little Circus series of classes students will continue to explore movement in a safe and non-competitive environment.

Our trained staff continues to build on the skills developed in Little Circus 1. This class will explore upside down movement and increased motor skills.

Students will be ready for this class when they meet these pre-requisites:
-Understand and execute basic shapes (tuck, pike, straddle, pencil)
-Complete a straddle back in hammock, sitting on trapeze with minimal spotting
-Performa a forward roll with no spot
-Participate fully in all juggling and movement games


Kids Circus Fundamentals 1

Ages: 7-11

  • Sundays 12:30 pm - 1:25 pm

  • Tuesdays 4:00 pm - 4:55 pm

  • Fridays 5:30 pm - 6:25 pm

Circus fundamentals is an entry-level circus class focused on cultivating the strength, body awareness, confidence, and personal style needed to unleash your child’s circus potential.

Students will explore trapeze, fabric, handbalancing, tumbling, partner acrobatics, toss juggling, and object manipulation in classes that work on building a strong foundation in technique and artistry while encouraging creative expression.


Kids Circus Fundamentals 2

Ages: 7-11,  this class is for students who are ready to advance from Kids Circus Fundamentals 1 or by assessment.

  • Sundays 11:30 am - 12:55 pm

  • Mondays 4:00 pm - 5:25 pm

Kids Circus Fundamentals 2 focuses on growing technique foundations and broadening creative expression.

Students will expand skill vocabulary in acrobatics, aerial, and juggling, and work to increase stamina, strength, and flexibility.

Working together as pairs, groups, and as individuals, students will increase self-awareness, and build confidence, grace, and strength as they continue to cultivate their creative potential.


Teen Circus Fundamentals

Ages: 11-14, no experience necessary 

  • Sundays 1:45 pm - 3:10 pm

  • Wednesdays 4:30 pm - 5:55 pm

Youth Acrobatics 1

Ages: 7-14, for those that are ready to advance from the Fundamentals series, or by assessment.

Develop strength and confidence in tumbling, partner acrobatics and handstands through focusing on drills and positioning for acrobatic fundamentals. Some skills covered include round offs, pyramids, thigh stands and building handstand endurance.

Pre-requisites: Forward Roll, Backward roll, Full Cartwheels, Bridge, 20 second handstand on wall and 30 second plank hold.


Youth Aerial 1

Ages: 7-14, this class is for those that are ready to advance from the Fundamentals series, or by assessment 

  • Tuesdays 5:00 pm - 6:25 pm

  • Wednesdays 5:00 pm - 6:25 pm

Winter Term: January 6 - March 2, 2019

The youth aerial class focuses on static trapeze, aerial fabric, aerial sling and aerial hoop.Classes are designed to provide a solid foundation in aerial technique and artistry while encouraging creative expression.

Complementary circus skills such as tumbling and handbalancing may be explored to help support aerial skill development.

At this level we recommend two classes per week of either youth aerial or a combination or youth aerial and youth acrobatics.

Pre-requisites:

*Fabric - Full climb, foot lock in air, 5 second inverted straddle hold.             
*Trapeze - 10 second bent arm tuck hold in ropes, 10 second knee hang.


Youth Contortion

Ages: 9-14 yrs, this class requires an assessment or pre-approval. Our 30-minute assessments costs $25

  • Thursdays 6:00 pm - 7:55 pm

Winter Term: January 6 - March 2, 2019

The contortion class is designed for students who want to learn the proper technique and strength necessary to pursue this exquisite art form.

With a strong emphasis on injury prevention and conditioning, students will learn how to improve their active flexibility and range of motion in a safe manner. Students will build strength to stabilize and support their bodies. In Contortion 2, students will continue to work on their technique, strength, and flexibility while exploring shapes, balances and dynamic moves that utilize extreme flexibility.

 
 

Youth Contortion 2

Ages: 9-14 yrs, this class requires an assessment or pre-approval. Our 30-minute assessments cost $25

Winter Term: January 6 - March 2, 2019

In Contortion 2, students will continue to work on their technique, strength and flexibility while progressing towards more challenging skills and balances.

With a strong emphasis on injury prevention and conditioning, students will learn how to improve their active flexibility and range of motion in a safe manner. Students will build strength to stabilize and support their bodies while exploring shapes, balances and dynamic moves that utilize extreme flexibiliy.

Prerequisites: must be able to hold an elbow stand, a chest stand and do a bridge kickover.


Youth Duo Aerial

Ages: 7-14, this class is an option for students who have completed at least two terms of a specialty aerial class or with instructor approval

  • Thursdays 4:30 pm - 5:55 pm

Winter Term: January 6 - March 2, 2019

This class explores partnering on a variety of apparati including static and dance trapeze, aerial fabric, aerial rope, and aerial hoop.

Pre-requisites: 3 climbs in a row. 5 pull ups. 5 straddle up inversions in a row and instructor approval.


Youth Fabric

Ages: 7-14, this class is an option for students who have advanced from Youth Aerial or by assessment

  • Thursdays 4:30 pm - 5:55 pm

  • Wednesdays 6:00 pm - 7:25 pm

Winter Term: January 6 - March 2, 2019 

  • Winter Series pricing (8-weeks): $245

 

In this class students will further develop aerial fabric vocabulary, such as drops, and explore transitions between skills.

Classes are designed to provide a solid foundation in aerial technique and artistry while encouraging creative expression. Complementary circus skills such as tumbling may be explored to help support aerial skill development.

Pre-requisites: 2 climbs in a row, catchers, hip key and back balance, 5 pull ups


Youth Handbalancing

Ages: 7-14, this class is an option for students who have advanced from Youth Acrobatics or by assessment

  • Wednesdays 6:30 pm - 7:25 pm

Winter Term: January 6 - March 2, 2019

Further develop body awareness and endurance to balance a handstand. Work towards press handstands, various body shapes and 1 arm handstand drills. Great class to take conquerently with youth tumbling and/or youth partner acrobatics.

Pre-requisites:

  • 60 second handstand on wall

  • tuck up to freestanding handstand

Youth Partner Acrobatics

Ages: 7-14, this class is an option for students who have advanced from Youth Acrobatics or by assessment

  • Wednesdays 6:30 pm - 7:25 pm

Winter Term: January 6 - March 2, 2019 

  • Winter Series pricing (8-weeks): $165

 

Students work on technique and progressions for stacking, dynamic partnering, pitching and hand to hand. Complementary acrobatic skills such as tumbling and handbalancing may be explored, and are great classes to take concurrently.

Pre-requisites: base and flyer thigh stand, 60 second handstand on wall, 10 push ups


Youth Trapeze

Ages: 7-14, this class is an option for students who have advanced from Youth Aerial or by assessment

  • Sundays 1:15 pm - 2:40 pm

Winter Term: January 6 - March 2, 2019 

  • Winter Series pricing (8-weeks): $245

 

Trapeze students will solidify specialty hangs (toe, heel, elbow, and more) and develop dynamic sequences. Expect to gain stamina and to further explore the possibilities of what is possible on the trapeze.

Classes are designed to provide a solid foundation in aerial technique and artistry while encouraging creative expression. Complementary circus skills such as tumbling and handbalancing may be explored to help support aerial skill development.

Pre-requisites: Pull over, 5 pull ups, 5 straight leg lifts, 10 second front balance

Youth Tumbling

Ages: 7-14, this class is an option for students who have advanced from Youth Acrobatics or by assessment

  • Sundays 3:00 - 3:55 pm

Winter Term: January 6 - March 2, 2019 

  • Winter Series pricing (8-weeks): $165

 

This class builds off the fundamentals with a focus on technique, conditioning and drills. Depending on experience, students can expect to work on perfecting the basics in addition to handsprings, aerials and beyond.

Pre-requisites:

  • Round-off

  • Good form in all tumbling fundamental skills (forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, handstands)

  • 30 second hollow body hold

  • 10 consecutive push-ups
