- Circus Project Spring Class Show: Sunday, May 16, 2010, 8:00pm.
For any of you who have ever considered taking an aerial class with The Circus Project and want to know more... Our beginning/intermediate level spring class students are sure to amaze and delight with their new sets of skills. The show is free of cost, and located in the Activities Building at Friendly House Community Center (the building just left of the main entrance). Please join us for what promises to be a very exciting, fun-filled evening of entertainment (with a few surprise guest artists)! Please note: this show is a work-in-progress, with floor seating only.

WVDO Crystal Awards Breakfast: May 21, 2010
Circus Project Performance Troupe artist Nicolo Kehrwald will perform his hand balancing act at the Crystal Awards Breakfast.
The 17th Annual Awards Celebration, created by Willamette Valley Development Officers members, will kick off the second day of the WVDO Conference. The Crystal Awards Breakfast has a three-fold purpose: recognition, celebration and inspiration. The Awards publicly acknowledge fund raising professionals at all levels of experience and create pride in the profession. The 17th Crystal Awards will host development professionals representing more than 350 non-profit organizations as well as community leaders from the philanthropic and corporate sectors and recognize outstanding individuals in the field of fund development.
Cost: $35 WVDO members, $50 non-members

The Circus Project Training Company and Performance Troupe artist Petra Delarocha will entertain audiences at P:ear’s 8th annual fundraiser, celebrating another year of trusting relationships with Portland’s homeless and transitional youth. Through education, art, recreation, job, housing, muraling and mentoring programs, these young people are learning to grow and thrive in our community. You’ll experience abundant food, local wine and champagne, and an extensive 100+ silent auction! Performers include: Adam Shearer, Weinland, Johna Wells, The Good Time Girls, and the Circus Project.
Cost: $100/ticket, $1000/table.

Circus Project director, Jenn Cohen will perform her solo, single-point cloud swing act, in Portland’s all-women circus, Circus Artemis. Taking a cue from a legendary “strong woman,” Portland’s most powerful, most talented female circus artists have united under a common goal. Their mission? To blow audiences away with amazing feats of strength, skill and beauty. Circus Artemis combines outstanding performance with an empowering opportunity for Portland’s women to take to the stage. In October 2009 we presented three amazing sold out family-friendly shows which left audience members inspired, dazzled, electrified, and demanding more!
Cost: ADULTS $15 in advance, KIDS under 12 pay their age, $20 Reserved chair seating $20 at the door.

The Circus Project will be premiering our new show, Duende, for three weekends in a row at the waterfront village during the Portland Rose Festival. Duende features: Night Flight's Gemma Adams and Stephanie Marvel Lopes, Shersten Finley, Circus Project director Jenn Cohen, the Circus Project Intensive Training Company (Kyle Hunt, Blythe Olson, Nelda Reyes, Meg Russel), and live music from the amazing Circus Project band (Nathaniel Holder, Diana Rowey, Blythe Olson, Gerardo Calderon, Paul Engler, Sylvia Hackathorn, and Walker Janelle) with costumes by Mizu Desierto.

Just $25 buys a week’s worth of healthy food for the homeless youth who participate in our free drop-in classes. $500 covers 40 hours of training for a youth in need in our Intensive Training Program. September, 2009: The Circus Project’s second benefit show, “Animare.” The show was a huge success. We were completely sold out, met our fundraising goal, and got rave reviews (which can be viewed on our media page).

The Circus Project presents: “Animare: An Evening of Food, Art, and Revelry to Benefit Homeless and At-risk Youth”
Portland, Oregon:
Local artists, businesses, and nonprofits unite in an extravaganza to benefit The Circus Project, a new 501c3, which serves homeless and at-risk youth in Portland. The line-up includes performances by March Fourth Marching Band, The Sprockettes, NANDA, Kazüm, The Bellini Twins, Lion, and The Circus Project Performance Troupe. The evening’s cuisine will be provided by Clyde Common, Feastworks, Ned Ludd, Olympic Provisions, Pizza Fino, and Poises Café. Artwork from P:ear will be on display. A silent auction will augment the evening with products and services from local businesses. “Animare” takes place one night only: Saturday, September 12, at Disjecta, on 8371 N. Interstate. The Circus Project enables homeless and at-risk youth to develop their physical and emotional integrity, by providing intensive skill training in circus and performing arts. In addition to homeless outreach, the project offers public classes for all ages, and manages a professional performance troupe that employs homeless and at-risk youth who have completed the intensive training program. “Animare,” is the debut of The Circus Project Performance Troupe.
