From the Front Lines of Creation: Call for Individual & Corporate Sponsors for 2010 Benefit Show
The Circus Project is truly a community project. Our specialized programming for homeless and at-risk youth along with our public performances would not exist without the contributions of time, services, and funding from our individual, family, and corporate donors. Thanks to the generosity of many local artists, businesses and other non-profit organizations in 2009, the Circus Project raised enough funds to offer its 2010 programs including: homeless outreach and drop-in classes, our yearlong intensive training company for youth in need, the professional performance troupe that employs graduates of our programs as wells as other established performers, and public classes for all ages. Serving close to 200 homeless and at-risk youth in Portland last year alone, founder Jenn Cohen and the Circus Project were awarded the 2009 Skidmore Prize for Achievements in the Non-Profit Sector and received major recognition by local media and other non-profit organizations.
The Circus Project’s September 2009 benefit performance, Animare, was a great example of what the combination of artistry and community collaboration can do to help support and continue the vital work of a non-profit organization. Our students and staff are now hard at work creating our 2010 Benefit Show, scheduled to première November 6 at Refuge. Yet we are only one part of the equation. We need your help to create another fabulous show, giving youth at risk an opportunity to shine and offering innovative, theatrical circus productions to Portland audiences. Thus, the Circus Project has officially launched our Fundraising Campaign for the 2010 Benefit Show. Our goal is to raise $10,000. Please consider supporting the Circus Project by making an individual or family donation, or becoming a corporate sponsor. Together we can create a world in which art and social equality thrive!
